Alberta Environment and Parks will be at the 2017 Edmonton Pet Expo on January 28 & 29 promoting “Don’t let it loose”. When common aquarium plants and animals are released into waterways, they can become invasive and do serious damage to the native ecosystem! Don’t let it loose encourages aquarium owners to never release aquarium or domestic pond water, plants, or dead or live animals into waterbodies, and educates them on the proper manner to dispose of these items. Invasive species harm ecosystems by increasing competition for limited resources and potentially spreading disease to native species.
